What kind of wax do you use?
We use a Luxury blend primarily consisting of coconut wax, with a touch of soy and apricot wax. Coconut wax is organic, clean-burning, and offers longer burn times compared to paraffin wax.
Why should I burn my candle for 2-3 hrs at a time?
Burning your candle for 2-3 hours maximizes the candle’s lifespan and ensures an even melt pool across the vessels surface, which then prevents tunneling (candle burning down the middle and not across).
How do I trim a cotton wick?
Please use a wick cutter to trim your cotton wick to 1/4”. A small pair of scissors may also be used to cut diagonally.
How do I trim a wooden wick?
To trim a wooden wick, use a wick cutter to remove the charred portion, exposing approximately 1/4” of the wick. If you do not have a wick cutter, a nail clipper can work just as well. Alternatively, pinching off the burnt top works just as well. Please ensure that you wipe away any debris before relighting.
Why do I need to trim my wicks after every burn?
In order to maintain your candle, we suggest trimming the wicks and cleaning the surface top of your wax prior to relighting. When wicks aren’t being trimmed, there will be carbon build up which in turn creates soothing or black smoke. The candle will also burn hotter, in turn shortening the life of the candle. By being diligent with trimming the wick, you are helping to keep your flame at a safe and appropriate height, and this in turn extends the burn cycle of your candle.
Why does my wood wick candle look discoloured after burning?
Wood wicks contain natural tannins which may cause discoloration. This is a normal reaction and does not affect the candle's quality.
Why won't my candle stay lit?
This can be caused by a few reasons. Avoid placing your candle around drafts and windy areas. Do not place candles on tilted surfaces. Ensure that your candle is melted all the way across the surface prior to snuffing out, in order to avoid tunnelling which in turn can drown the wick. If this happens, scoop out a layer of wax to a levelled top exposing approximately 1/4” of the wick. Then relight and let melt all the way across the top. Never tilt a candle while it is still burning.
Is it ok to use any kind of lighter to light my candle?
While any lighter is suitable, we recommend using an electric lighter to avoid tilting the vessel or soot buildup on glass or concrete. If this happens, residue can be easily wiped off once the candle cools off.
What are your fragrance oils made from?
Our fragrance oils include pure essential oils specifically formulated for candles, as well as synthetic grade perfume oils. They are free of phthalates, carcinogens, and reproductive disruptors.
What kind of sealer do you use in your concrete vessels?
We use a water-based sealer free of harmful chemicals or VOCs.
Can I pour hot water into my concrete jar to clean out wax?
We kindly advise against pouring hot water into concrete jars as it may cause cracking. Instead, scoop out unused wax with a spoon (remove the wick) and dispose of responsibly. Use warm water or a warm cloth to clean the vessel.
